The second-hand marketplace Members Share Displeasure About Size Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has updated its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Social Media Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
The company said the new system was more in line with similar services.
They have suggested members to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Earlier, the sizing featured one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Stories
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, located in Scotland, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Manual Updates
A different user, located in England, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
